9/11/2021
We lived across the street from The Towers on 9/11, and saw, up close, the burning hole, the second plane go into the Tower, the Towers collapse.
The wreckage.
The horror.
The despair.
The smell.
To everyone who is mourning today,
who feels traumatized
and anxious,
I feel with you.
On this anniversary
I am currently living through a catastrophic hit by Hurricane Ida.
On this anniversary I am once again living in a disaster zone
making way through
letting go of things I once cherished.
Just things.
Once again I am heavily impacted by what my eyes witnessed up close.
Terrorism is real.
Climate change is real.
Fascism is real.
Racism is real.
Hate is real.
This pandemic is real.
It’s all so horrid.
And on this day,
the same as 20 years ago, the thing that gets me through is love.
The only force that has the power to save us
and it is a force
that gives strength.
So for anyone who needs a little love today,
I am extending my heart and the bounty of love
I have inside
to you.
